As the direct sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, NetherRealm Studios' Injustice 2 will be coming from the events that sort of left the Injustice world in shambles.
And that includes the death of one of the main players of the world: Joker. While we've been seeing a lot more of the roster being revealed slowly, fans have yet to get any word on whether Mr. J will still be around for the sequel.
Since Harley's already changed sides herself by allying with Batman, and with Brainiac posing as one of the bigger threats in this game, there's already a lot going on in the background.
But if a new sneak peek at the achievements of Injustice 2 serve any indication, a comeback for the Clown Prince of Crime doesn't seem too impossible.
Xbox Achievements has listed all 62 achievements, which add up to 1,000 points for Injustice 2. A lot of the achievements are pretty straightforward. Yet there are a handful that hint at Mr. J's return.
Two in particular standout. The I Love You, I Hate You achievement requires Harley to defeat Joker with the final hit coming from Go Night Night. Another achievement is Why Aren't You Laughing? This requires the Joker to defeat Batman with the final hit coming from Not So Funny Is It?
Consider how Joker becomes both the opponent to be defeated and the player's choice of character to defeat Batman, these seem to be reasons to believe in a comeback of the Dark Knight's biggest nemesis.
Of course, how he'll come back in the narrative remains to be seen. He was already killed off in the first game, which pretty much sent Superman to his fate in the opening of Injustice 2. Is this hinting a turn of events?
For now, we're still waiting for the rest of the character reveals for Injustice 2. The game will be out on the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
