Im Soo Hyang opened up about her role, Oh Woo Ri, and the drama Woori The Virgin, and how she ended up joining the series.
Arriving on May 9, Woori The Virgin will serve as the first Korean adaptation of the hit series, Jane The Virgin. It tells the story of Oh Woo Ri, an assistant writer, and her boyfriend, Detective Lee Gang Jae.
Although they have been dating for a long time, Oh Woo Ri wishes to keep her virginity until she gets married. However, when she visits an OB-GYN for a check-up, she gets pregnant after the doctor’s mistake through artificial insemination.
The father of her baby, Raphael, is a CEO of a cosmetics company and is married to Lee Ma Ri. However, their marriage is nothing as love does not exist between them.
Im Soo Hyang Explains How She Landed on Oh Woo Ri’s Role
A few weeks before the show’s premiere, Im Soo Hyang sat for an interview and discussed how she ended up playing the role. Per the actress, it all began when she read the script for the first time.
She reportedly felt excited that she also watched the original series after seeing the script.
“I decided to appear in the drama because it was so interesting that I watched all the episodes at once. The plot is intriguing, but it’s a drama that contains various messages about love and family, so it’s even more attractive,” she went on.

Im Soo Hyang reportedly had to perfectly show how Oh Woo Ri gets pregnant accidentally and the decisions she makes thereafter. She admitted facing difficulties to express the character’s change of heart since she is torn between the baby’s father and her boyfriend.
Fortunately, she reportedly found a way to help viewers understand the situation.

Elsewhere in the interview, Im Soo Hyang was asked to give keywords that describe her character: “chastity before marriage,” “growth,” and “independence.”
She explained that the first keyword explains why some people save themselves for marriage. The character, according to the actress, will start facing dilemmas between reality and her idealism soon.
Im Soo Hyang ended the interview by explaining the last two keywords, saying, “I decided to appear in the drama because it was so interesting that I watched all the episodes at once. The plot is intriguing, but it’s a drama that contains various messages about love and family, so it’s even more attractive.”
Woori The Virgin will premiere on May 9.
