It's been confirmed that I'm in Love with the Villainess will have a total of 12 episodes, running from October to December 2023.

As with many anime, the episode count was revealed through the show's Blu-ray pre-orders, which confirmed there will be 12 episodes produced for the series.

A single-cour release like this is the standard for most romantic comedy anime series. Shows like Horimiya, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses and My Tiny Senpai all had 12 or 13-episode runs during the Summer 23 season.

Episodes are expected to air every week on Mondays from October 2nd. Assuming there are no delays (which is no certainty given the rise of anime delays recently), the finale should air on Christmas Day, December 25th.

It's unlikely that there will be more episodes of I'm in Love with the Villainess soon after this season has ended, but it's not impossible.

There are a lot of popular rom-com anime every season and many of them never return for a sequel. This time last year, More than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers aired for 12 episodes. Despite its popularity, no second season has been announced.

However, there are a few things in favour of I'm in Love with the Villainess that suggest it might not just fall away after Fall 23.

For one, there should be source material to adapt, with five volumes of the light novel published. The source material has also been adapted into various spin-offs that are still being worked on, which suggests the series is not just good but, crucially, profitable.

If the anime adaptation of I'm in Love with the Villainess is a critical and commercial success, that might pave the way for more episodes.
