Idris Elba Isn’t Sure Whether Or Not Heimdall Will Make His Way Back To The MCU

Rumor might have it that Idris Elba is going to become the new James Bond after Daniel Craig retires from the role, but the Thor: Ragnarok star isn't quite sure about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking in an interview with Metro UK, Elba was asked whether or not Marvel fans would get to see the actor's character Heimdall in the MCU after that heartbreaking opening sequence in Avengers: Infinity War. In the opening act of the movie, fans get to see the remains of Thanos massacre on the Asgardian people, and one of the victims that die early on in the scene is Heimdall. Though it seems like Elba says that he'd be really happy if Marvel brought him back to play Asgard's gatekeeper, there still haven't been any talks of a potential return to the MCU.

"I have no idea. It's a show about superheroes and guns, who knows. It's been amazing playing in the Marvel family. I'm sure they decided to get rid of as many characters because they've run their natural course. I loved playing him, he was my G, my guy."

While we all love Heimdall and hope that he'd return along with Loki (Tom Hiddleston), it seems a bit hard to believe that we'll see the Asgardian again considering the fact that he and Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) brother were one of the earlier victims of Thanos. It's more likely that we'll get to see those who disappeared because of the Mad Titan's finger-snapping massacre, but for Heimdall, Loki and Gamorra (Zoe Saldana), a resurrection seems rather unlikely.

Avengers 4 hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
