ICYMI: Watch James Gunn Do the Baby Groot Dance From Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

One of the most memorable moments in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was the ever adorable Groot dancing in the opening battle. While everybody else was busy fighting, he busted moves like no one was watching and no monster was trying to kill them.

Director James Gunn was doing the same exact dance in a video that quickly blew up on Reddit. Gunn was actually the individual behind the Groot dances, not just in the second film, but also in the post-credit scene of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

He confirmed this in interviews including this one during the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, even showing a bit of the dance moves. In fact, he loved performing it so much he would break out dancing in front of people. He did the dance from the first film during a Doug Loves Moviespodcast a few years back. Watch the video below.

It turns out part of Groot's charm comes from Gunn himself! Apart from helming the film, it looks like he has the creativity for dancing and music as well. Hopefully, we see that again soon with the hope that Groot will be brought back to life in Avengers: Endgame.

Everybody is excited for his return as director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after his unexpected firing last year. He ultimately got a directing gig for the Suicide Squad sequel before his Marvel comeback. However, it might be a long wait since production for the film is not expected to resume until early 2021.

There have been a lot of casting rumors though. The word is that Mark Hamill might play the role of Rocket's creator while Zac Efron and Lucasfilm are apparently being considered for the role of Adam Warlock, who was teased in the post-credit scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
