It goes without saying that Hugh Jackman will always be synonymous with the X-Men film franchise, having portrayed a superhero character longer than anyone else in Hollywood. Now, he's set to come out of his Wolverine retirement to continue the beloved mutant's adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It turns out that the Logan actor has always been a fan of the genre but shockingly enough, his allegiance doesn't 100% belong to Marvel.

Speaking with Variety, Jackman revealed that two of his favorite superhero films didn't come from Marvel which may come as a surprise to most fans. In fact, the Australian actor says that the 1978 Superman film starring Christopher Reeve and The Dark Knight trilogy are among his favorite comic book movies, calling them game-changers of the genre.

He said: "My favorite superhero movie. Growing up, the first Superman. That was a game-changer. Dick Donner movie, Christopher Reeve. I'm gonna say, I'm thinking one of the Nolan Batmans. I'm gonna go Dark Knight." Well, I guess we can safely say that Logan isn't 100% a Marvel guy.

To Jackman's credit, he has long cemented his status in the comic book film genre as one of the best actors to ever do it and if his Wolverine return proves anything, it's that his portrayal of the character has fully resonated with fans that it's become the standard. There's a reason why Marvel Studios is having a hard time casting the next claw-slashing mutant in the MCU.

Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release on November 8, 2024.
