Hugh Jackman Won’t Reprise His Wolverine Role Despite Ryan Reynold’s Scheming

Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds might still be holding on to the hope that 20th Century Fox's former Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman might bring out his claws again for an appearance in an upcoming Merc with a Mouth movie, but The Greatest Showman actor isn't afraid of reminding his friend that he's done being Wolverine.

Speaking in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Hughman was asked whether or not the next Deadpool movie would be able to tempt Jackman to return to the X-Men franchise after burying the role in the gritty and moving R-rated swan song, Logan. The publication asked Academy Award-nominated director Jason Reitman whether or not he'd want to direct the movie, and they were hoping that it might help entice Jackman to wear his Wolverine claws again.

"Did Ryan Reynolds ask you to ask this question? Because it sounds like a trick question," Jackman laughed after hearing the interviewer's proposition.

Reitman might have directed great films like Juno and Thank You For Smoking, but according to Jackman, it'll take more than having the director on the new Deadpool movie to make him return as Wolverine.

"I love Jason Reitman, and I actually — for all I say — you know I love Ryan Reynolds," Jackman responded. "But right now Ryan, sorry buddy, you're gonna have to work harder than that."

Reynolds can try, but from the looks of it, it seems like Jackman has no intention of suiting up for the last time just for a cute Deadpool-Wolverine team-up in a future movie. Oh well.

Deadpool 2 is available on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-Ray.
