It looks like we haven't seen the last of Wolverine. Hugh Jackman has confirmed that everybody's favorite mutant will return, depending on who "will buy him."
Jackman was recently a guest on Sunday Today where he confirmed with Willie Geist that fans can rest assured that the mutant with the adamantium claws will return on the big screen (via People).
"Oh, Wolverine will be back," Jackman said. "Someone's going to buy him, I don't know."
However, it's unlikely that the character will still be played by the Greatest Showman star. When Geist asked if he will reprise the role, Jackman said, "No, but Ryan [Reynolds] is relentless."
It's no secret that the Once Upon A Deadpool star is pushing for Jackman to play Logan one more time for a Deadpool/Wolverine crossover. Unfortunately, the former X-Men actor isn't so easily convinced.
Jackman first took on the role in Bryan Singer's 2000 film X-Men. Since then, he has played Wolverine in eight more movies including X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where Reynolds first played Wade Wilson.
It's understandable why Reynolds is so eager for Jackman to reprise his role as the brooding mutant. After all, Reynolds' first attempt at playing Deadpool wasn't quite as successful. Perhaps Reynolds believes that a Deadpool/Wolverine crossover would work with the right script. However, Jackman believes that the team-up between the two characters isn't something that the rest of the world wants.
Jackman's most recent project is the animated flick MissingLink. Reynolds will return in Once Upon a Deadpool, which premieres this Christmas.
