Hugh Jackman is set to reprise the role of Wolverine again in the upcoming MCU movie Deadpool 3 where he will finally team up with Ryan Reynolds' beloved hero. A lot of fans are definitely excited to see him return and play the hero again years after we last saw him in Logan, which we thought was his last.
However, with all the excitement that we have, there are still a lot of questions regarding how Jackman's Wolverine will play into the story of the film and whether it will affect his fate in Logan or if it's the same or different from the previous iterations that we've seen before.
Now, it looks like we have our first clue about Wolverine's role in the upcoming film. Speaking recently with the French news outlet Le Parisien (via The Direct), Jackman may have accidentally spilled some details about his role as he implied that he will be playing two versions of his character in Deadpool 3.
"Yes, it will even be a dual role. Ryan and I have been friends for twenty years, we have a lot of fun together. We are filming this summer," he said.
Assuming that the actor did not misspeak, it sounds like we will be seeing two variants of Wolverine in the film which goes along with the MCU's current Multiverse Saga and it shows that they are exploring that concept even further in the upcoming film, where it is already expected to be a huge part of its plot.
Now, the question is how those two versions of Wolverine will factor into the story and why that will be the case when we see the character in the film. Obviously, we will never know until we see it next year, but this is something that is worth speculating on as we're patiently waiting to see it.
Besides Reynolds and Jackman, The Crown star Emma Corrin has also been cast to play the villain of the film. Shawn Levy will direct from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's screenplay.
