Hugh Jackman Just Set A Guinness World Record As Wolverine

Hugh Jackman might have long since set his claws down as everyone's favorite quick-regenerating mutant, but it looks like the X-Men actor has just found himself a place in the Guinness Book of World Records thanks to his role as Wolverine.

The Guinness Book of World Records just recently took to Twitter to share a photo Jackman holding up a framed award revealing that he had broken a record playing Fox's James Hewlett. Together with X-Men's Patrick Stewart, Jackman shares the record for the longest portrayal of a live-action superhero in the comic book movie genre.

According to reports, Jackman and Stewart's careers as Wolverine and Professor X have lasted for 16 years and 228 days at the time of the announcement by the Guinness Book of World Records.

Speaking in an interview with the organization, Jackman opens up about how he always looked up at the Guinness Book of Records.

"When I was a kid, the Guinness Book of Records was it," Jackman said while receiving the award.

The actor first tried to make a record by trying to snatch the most coins off of his elbow back when he was ten years old. When he failed at that, he and his brother tried their hand at a record for playing badminton non-stop at 25 hours. He might have failed at the badminton attempt as well, but now Jackman finally has his own award thanks to his career as Wolverine.

"That's it, I've made it," Jackman said. "This is why I got into showbiz, thank you."

Retired from his role as Wolverine, Jackman has no plans of returning as Logan. Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds might try to sweeten the pot with his ads and his pranks and whatnot, but Jackman seems to be set on remaining retired from the role.

Fox's next mutant movie, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, is set for release June 7, 2019.
