The end is near for the Fast & Furious film franchise. But exactly how many parts will Fast X have?

In Fast X, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) must protect his family from Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), the son of deceased drug lord Hernan Reyes, who seeks revenge after the heist that occurred in Rio de Janeiro. Fast X takes place after the events of F9 and twelve years after Fast Five.

So, how many parts will Fast X have? Vin Diesel seemingly confirmed that Fast X will be a trilogy.

A two-part finale was initially planned, with the untitled Fast X sequel coming out in 2025. However, during the Fast X premiere in Rome, Vin Diesel shared that Fast X could be a trilogy.

"Without giving away too much, I can say this. Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter. And after the studio saw this part one, they said, 'Could you make Fast X the finale, a trilogy?' So, um…" Diesel said to a reporter.

His co-star, Michelle Rodriguez, then added that there are "three acts in any story." The reporter further asked if they are confirming that we’re getting a third movie. Diesel and Rodriguez then walk away and wave goodbye.

Additionally, director Louis Leterrier said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that "it's hard to give an answer" as to whether Fast X Part 2 will be the conclusion to the Fast & Furious film franchise. However, he did share that Part 2 will make viewers cry.

"As a fan, you will love the ending and you will cry. Part 2 is going to be a sad one. It's going to be beautiful, and I'm so happy I'm doing it,” Leterrier said.

So, it looks like we’re getting a three-part finale, which means it may take a little while before we officially say goodbye to the Fast family.

Where to Watch Fast X?

Fast X is coming out in theaters on May 19, 2023 in the United States and most countries. However, some countries may have different release dates.

The film’s official synopsis is as follows:

The end of the road begins. Fast X, the tenth film in the Fast & Furious Saga, launches the final chapters of one of cinema’s most storied and popular global franchises, now in its third decade and still going strong with the same core cast and characters as when it began. Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever. In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price. Dante’s plot will scatter Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New allies will be forged and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.
