For any newcomers, The Case Study of Vanitas is a Studio Bones project based on a manga by Jun Mochizuki, also known for Pandora Hearts. It follows Noé, a young, idealistic, and overly enthusiastic vampire, as he crosses paths with Vanitas, an obnoxious human, who acts as a vampire doctor, curing vampires of curses that render them violent.

Part 2 picks up right from where the first cour left off and finds Vanitas and Noé in Gédauvan. There, they plan to investigate sightings of the legendary local beast. While Vanitas already suspects that the Beast is a vampire whose true name has been corrupted, he and Noé discover that the case is more complicated than they could ever imagine.

According to the popular anime database MyAnimeList, The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 is going to have 12 episodes in total. The same was true for the previous cour as well, meaning that the first season will have a total of 24 episodes.

So far, the manga has released nine volumes, with the Beast of Gédauvan arc being part of the sixth. That being the case, 24 episodes was likely the greatest number the anime could go with, as there wouldn't have been enough source material for more.

This, however, is not to say that subsequent chapters of the ongoing manga will not be adapted in the future. The anime is already one of the most popular winter shows, which will hopefully mean more content in the future.
