The World's Finest Assassin is quickly becoming a favorite in the Fall 2021 anime season. Studio Silver Link is very well-known for its isekai works, and this one is particularly successful. So, how many episodes is The World's Finest Assassin, also known as Sekai Saiko no Ansatsusha, going to have?
First, a short overview: The World's Finest Assassin is based on a light novel (surprising for an isekai, I know) and a subsequent manga of the same name. As the title indicates, the main character is a renowned assassin, who dies when his superiors decide he outlived his usefulness.
Aided by a goddess, the assassin opts for reincarnation and chooses to remember his skills and past life. Now a young noble named Lugh, our morally grey main character must use his talent to defeat an extremely powerful hero who is otherwise going to destroy the world.
While the show doesn't do something particularly groundbreaking, being, after all, based on a quite typical isekai formula, fans have noted that it's really good at what it does, and, at the end of the day, this matters more than originality for the sake of it.
For those wondering how many more weeks of Lugh's adventures we can expect, MyAnimeList tells us that the first season will have 12 episodes. With the show becoming increasingly popular, some fans might be a bit disappointed to hear that the show will have so few episodes, but it's all for good reason.
While it's too early to have an announcement or any information about a second season, note that The World's Finest Assassin is a relatively new story that first made an appearance in 2019. So far, there are only 5 light novel volumes and 3 manga volumes, meaning that, depending on its pacing, the anime might cover all of these.
If all the above media continue on successfully, more content could be possible in the future, but we'd have to wait for more light novel and manga volumes to come out first.
