Hazbin Hotel’s first season has finally ended, but the buzz for the series continues as many things remain unexplored. Among the many questions many fans still have is: how did the Hazbin Hotel characters die?
This fact remains a mystery for many of the show’s characters, though there are some whose deaths have been explained, either in the series or by the show’s creator.
Of course, death in Hazbin Hotel is quite different from death in most shows given its premise.

Who Dies in Hazbin Hotel?
After the pilot gained lots of attention and views back in 2019, VivziePop’s Hazbin Hotel finally got a proper animated series that was streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
This series follows Charlie Morningstar, the princess of Hell, as she builds a hotel to rehabilitate sinners so they can return to heaven instead of being purged by angels.
Thus, the show’s cast features sinners who live in hell. As sinners were all human before ending up in hell, they’re all technically dead.
There is an exception though, and that is the protagonist Charlie. She is one of the only Hellborn characters, being the daughter of the fallen angel Lucifer.
Despite her Hellborn status, Charlie is far from devilish as she’s compassionate enough to want to save sinners instead of letting them be purged.

How Did the Hazbin Hotel Characters Die? Here's What Fans Think
Given that all the characters have technically already died, many are curious about their causes of death. For now, only two have confirmed causes.
First is Angel Dust, who died of a drug overdose when he was human. Next is Alastor, who is said to have died from a gunshot wound in a dog-related incident.
As for the others, there are many theories online, with some dating back to the time of the pilot.
Here are some popular theories for each character:
- Vaggie – Some believe her death to be self-inflicted due to the x mark on her eye, though others think she was choked to death due to her skin color.
- Husk – Potentially alcohol overdose given his penchant for drinking.
- Niffty – Possibly chemical-related due to her habit of cleaning, though more grim theories suggest that an STD caused her death given her germaphobia.
- Sir Pentious – As he’s a mechanical genius, some think he died due to an accident with a machine, though others think he was hanged.
- Tom Trench – Based on his name and the fact that he wears a gas mask, many think he died in the trenches during World War 1.
- Cherri Bomb – The theory regarding her death is gang-related. Others think it’s explosive-related.
- Katie Killjoy – Possibly dismembered due to the creaking sounds that she makes while moving.
Fans will need to wait a while before these theories are confirmed. At least, Hazbin Hotel has been renewed for a second season.
