House of the Dragon will be out in over a month, so Game of Thrones fans and newbies alike shall now prepare for a new adventure in Westeros.

HBO is about to feature another take on the world of dragons, kingdoms and powerful families in the upcoming series. As it will take fans 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, here’s everything you need to know about House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon’s Premise

House of the Dragon is a Game of Thrones prequel set before the original series occurred two centuries ago.

It follows the story of the fall of House Targaryen, which is Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) family.

HBO ordered the show in October 2019 and would be consisted of 10 episodes.

Where is House of the Dragon will be Based?

House of the Dragon will be based on George R.R. Martin’s novel, Fire & Blood, which chronicles the Targaryen family from his A Song of Ice and Fire novels.

HBO chief content officer Casey Bloys told TVLine that the new series’ source material gave it an edge over other Game of Thrones spinoffs, like the canceled Jane Goldman show.

“The Jane Goldman one was a bit of a bigger swing because there was a lot more invention,” he said. “House of the Dragon, George has text and history for that era, so there is a bit more of a road map. You understood the history and what the story would be, so it’s easier to [visualize as a series].”
