House of the Dragon Teaser Featured Awesome Game of Thrones Easter Egg

In case you missed it, the first teaser for House of the Dragon is finally out and it shows us the major players in the new HBO series. However, it also gave Game of Thrones fans something familiar and significant from the original show. Did you spot the awesome Easter Egg in the House of the Dragon teaser?

The teaser only showed a little glimpse at what will happen in House of the Dragon. For instance, it gave a tease at the tension between King Viserys Targaryen and his brother Prince Daemon Targaryen.

There were also several shots of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. However, there was only one brief look at Alicent Hightower. On the other hand, it was one that truly mattered since it proved her important role in the story.

In the teaser, Alicent is shown wielding a small weapon as she makes her way through a crowd as if to attack someone across the room. However, it's not just any weapon. Alicent is holding the Catspaw dagger, which played a significant role in Game of Thrones.

In the original show, the dagger was meant to be the weapon that would kill Bran Stark. Littlefinger later presented the Catspaw dagger to Bran, who in turn handed it over to his sister Arya Stark. It was the weapon that was used to ultimately kill the Night King.

It's an interesting Easter Egg that somehow confirms that the dagger is really, really old and had once been in the possession of the Hightowers. Not much is known about the weapon (it is actually unnamed but is referred to as the Catspaw dagger because of the assassin that first used it in Game of Thrones) but we may learn more in House of the Dragon.

House of the Dragon has not yet been given an official release date but is set to premiere on HBO in 2022.
