House of the Dragon Teaser Promises Fire and Blood in Game of Thrones Prequel

The first teaser for House of the Dragon is finally here and it offers an intriguing glimpse at the upcoming HBO series. Not surprisingly, the Game of Thrones prequel show is promising fire and blood when it drops next year.

The official teaser for House of the Dragon is all about "Gods. Kings. Fire. And Blood." Interestingly, a character is highlighted by each word. Otto Hightower's Hand of the King pin is connected to "Gods" while King Viserys I Targaryen represents "Kings." There's a dramatic tease at the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen to describe "Fire" and it's all about the adult Rhaenyra and Prince Daemon Targaryen when we hear the word "Blood."

There are fleeting glimpses at the exciting new characters like the mysterious Mysaria and Lord Corlys Velaryon aka the Sea Snake. At one point, it looks like Alicent Hightower is distressed and ready to attack someone. And of course, there's an epic joust that could end with a fatality. Seeing all that confirms that House of the Dragon is going to be as violent and tragic as the original Game of Thrones series.

House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin's novel Fire and Blood and will take place "200 years before the fall of the Iron Throne." The series will star Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Emma D'Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, and more.

For now, House of the Dragon has not yet been given an official release date. However, the Game of Thrones prequel is already set to premiere on HBO in 2022.
