Game of Thrones fans can't stop talking about the first teaser for House of the Dragon, and there are several reasons for that. While some are looking for Easter Eggs hidden in plain sight, others are wondering what will happen in the upcoming prequel series.
For instance, is there another character similar to Daenerys Targaryen in the Game of Thrones spin-off show? Interestingly, the teaser may have given us a glimpse at Dany's ancestor whose story is somehow close to Khaleesi.
In the House of the Dragon teaser, we get to see all the main characters of the upcoming series. However, only one is repeatedly connected to the Iron Throne. Early on, we see the young Rhaenyra Targaryen standing in front of the throne with intense desire in her eyes. She is later shown again walking up to the occupied Iron Throne.
Some fans have noted the similarity between the latter scene and how Dany first approached the Iron Throne in the final season of Game of Thrones. But are the two characters similar in their quest to become queen?
Unlike Dany, Rhaenyra is already King Viserys Targaryen's obvious choice to be his successor so she seems destined to take over as ruler. However, Dany only determined herself to rule after the death of Khal Drogo.
Although their stories are very different, both Dany and Rhaenyra are set to fight for the Iron Throne. In Rhaenyra's case, her claim to the throne is challenged and the struggle leads to the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war that is the center of House of the Dragon's story.
House of the Dragon has not yet been given an official release date but is set to premiere on HBO in 2022.
