Honey J did not attain success that easily as she went through struggles throughout her career – including financial problems.
Following her success on Mnet’s hit survival program Street Woman Fighter, Honey J started to be in the spotlight more often. She also receives gigs while working as HolyBang’s leader and Jay Park’s choreographer.
While she seemingly got a step closer to the peak of her career, the dancer recently opened up about her financial struggles before appearing in the competition.

Honey J Speaks Candidly About Monthly Income Before Street Woman Fighter
During the April 25 episode of JTBC’s A Very Personal Relationship: Between Us, Honey J appeared as a guest and met her former dance student, Kim Hee Jung.
What supposed to be a jolly reunion became a little emotional when the dancer shared how she experienced extreme financial difficulties before Street Woman Fighter happened.
Per the dancer, the COVID-19 pandemic crippled her usual sources of income. Because of that, she lost her gigs and only earns around $399 to $479.

"I never imagined how hard it actually was for [Honey J] unni because you would never show your feelings when we met. But when unni said 'should I get a delivery part-time job?' that's when I finally felt the reality of it. I was shocked when I saw you genuinely trying to find another job,” Kim Hee Jung said.
Honey J expressed her gratitude and apologies to the actress for buying her food amid the dark times in her life. Because she owes her a lot, Kim Hee Jung became the second person she called after HolyBang won the dance competition.
Jay Park Also Helped Honey J
Aside from Kim Hee Jung, Honey J also received help from Jay Park that they even sparked dating rumors.
During her interview with Kia-Kya TV host Hong Hyun Hee, Honey J said that she is not dating the rapper. She explained that they grew closer due to their mutual b-boy friends. She jokingly said that Jay Park is far from the tall and handsome man she wants to date.
She also revealed on Teuk TV’s YouTube channel that Jay Park helped her when she jokingly asked him to buy her one meal a day since she did not have any funds to feed herself.
"Truthfully, there are some stages where they don't need dancers. But Jay purposefully brought dancers to those stages. Thanks to him I am able to make it through these days. I'm really thankful to him," she added.
