Here’s Why Star Wars: The Mandalorian has Short Week-to-Week Episodes

Star Wars: The Mandalorian has been quite a hit. Not only have fans fallen in love with the Western feel of Jon Favreau's new live-action series, but they've also taken quite a liking to Pedro Pascal's pragmatic bounty hunter. There's also Baby Yoda, an adorable 50-year-old baby who's taken the Star Wars fanbase by storm.

Because of its success, fans can't help but want to binge-watch The Mandalorian all at once. Unfortunately, the series is being offered on Disney+ with a one-episode-per-week format with each episode lasting around 29 to 38 minutes long.

The series format might frustrate fans who're used to binge-watching shows online thanks to the release format of sites like Netflix and Hulu, but according to CNBC, The Mandalorian's once-a-week release is perfect for Disney+.

CNBC had media analysts go through The Mandalorian's format, and according to Comscore senior analyst Paul Dergarabedian, the week-to-week release actually helps Disney+.

"It's like the good old days of having to wait for content and have that anticipation last a week and not five seconds," Dergarabedian said.

Not only does the format help build anticipation over the release of every new episode for The Mandalorian, but apparently, it also helps build Disney+'s user base. Fans who haven't subscribed to Disney's new streaming site yet are bound to change their minds with all the hype surrounding the ongoing series.

Not only that, but the eight-episode series also ensures that fans are going to have to subscribe to Disney+ for about two months to keep track of Baby Yoda and The Mandalorian. It's a smart move really. Frustrating for fans, but smart for Disney.
