Here’s Why 2019 Is Going To Be The Best Year For Lucasfilm And Star Wars

Avengers: Endgame might have won top spot as the most highly anticipated film of 2019, but that doesn't mean that everyone's forgotten about Star Wars. The franchise is expected to have a massive turn out this year, and according to new reports, 2019 might be the best year for Lucasfilm yet.

While Star Wars stumbled at the box office with the performance of Han Solo spinoff movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Screen Rant reports that the lengthy gap between the film and Star Wars: Episode IX, is actually building anticipation for Lucasfilm's third and final entry in the sequel trilogy.

Though many fans hoped for a teaser trailer for Episode IX during the holiday season, Lucasfilm deliberately held back on the film's marketing campaign, keeping the film in most social media conversations while reminding moviegoers just how much they miss having a Star Wars movie during Christmas.

But that's not the only reason why Star Wars is going to have a great year. 2019 will be the start and the end of many things for the franchise. For the Star Wars saga, the year means the end of Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy with Episode IX serving as its final chapter. For the franchise, it means the start of something new – a live-action series from Jon Favreau called The Mandalorian. The series which is set to premiere on Disney's streaming service Disney+ will be Lucasfilm's first foray into live-action television, and fans are excited. Who doesn't want a Mandalorian-focused series?
