The very first photo of Liu Yifei's Mulan made way online earlier today and now it looks like Disney fans have the official synopsis of Disney's live-action version of the original 1998 animated movie.

The new synopsis doesn't stray far from the gist of the original animated feature from 1998, talking about Mulan, the eldest daughter of warrior Hua Mulan, who steps in to take place of her ailing father when China calls for the eldest son of every Chinese family to serve in the country's war against Northern Invaders.

Check out the full synopsis of the movie down here:

Mulan is the epic adventure of a fearless young woman who masquerades as a man in order to fight Northern Invaders attacking China. The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. When the Emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China's greatest warriors ever.

While it seems like the live-action version of Mulan won't stray from its source material, the synopsis of the film leaves out changes being made to the film, like the replacement of the Mongolian Shan Yu with a witch character played by Gong Li and the replacement of Li Shang, Mulan's love interest, with a character named Chen Honghui played by Yoson An.

It's elements like these that make fans doubt the film, though everyone's pretty glad that Disney got its cast list right with Liu, Li, An, Donnie Yen and even Jet Li. Let's just wait and see how everyone responds to the movie when it releases.

Mulan is set to come kicking down cinema doors on March 27, 2020.
