Here's How Star Wars: The Clone Wars Wrapped Up the Skywalker Saga

There is little doubt that people initially thought that Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 would be just about a bunch of clones. However, it looks like the animated series was actually more connected to the Skywalker Saga than anyone ever imagined. Interestingly, the last episode of the final season may have wrapped up the Skywalker Saga even better than Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers from Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 12. Proceed with caution.

In Victory and Death, Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex were ultimately forced to do what they have been dreading since the previous episode. They had to fight their way out of the cruiser and sadly, that meant having to kill the same people who had been their allies for several years. In the end, they managed to survive but they also were the reasons why a certain moon is now covered with the corpses of hundreds of Clone Troopers.

The episode concludes with Ahsoka putting on the cape that would later be associated with her in Star Wars Rebels after she and Rex bury their fallen friends. Before they leave, Ahsoka drops one of her lightsabers on the ground, signifying how she has now chosen to turn her back on the Jedi.

But wait, it doesn't end there. Fans are later treated to an emotional scene that brings Darth Vader to the same moon where he finds Ahsoka's lightsaber just as a morai is shown hovering above him.

It's an emotional way to end the series since it brings it all back to Vader. This is a Vader who now realizes that Anakin Skywalker's former padawan is "dead" but also teases a small glimmer of hope. Did this confirm that the Light Side still remains in Anakin? Perhaps it's time to watch the Skywalker Saga all over again to be sure.

The final episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 is currently streaming on Disney+.
