There was so much excitement when word came out last week that Star Trek alum Patrick Stewart was going to make his way back to the iconic science fiction franchise in CBS' new Star Trek series. The Star Trek: The Next Generation actor used to play the role of the well-loved character Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and news that the Captain was getting his own solo series brought in a lot of excitement to the franchise.
Word about Stewart's return first came from the actor himself, posting on Facebook and Instagram earlier this month. However, according to a report by CBR, the X-Men and Star Trek actor first gave out the news in person to all his fans who attended the Star Trek 208 Convention in Las Vegas.
Now, in a newly released video on the Star Trek YouTube account, fans get to see Stewart break down while making the announcement in front of everyone.
Check it out down here:
It's really touching to see Stewart grow emotional over the thought of his return to the Star Trek franchise. The actor has always been fond of the role, almost as much as fans are fond of his character, Captain Picard.
The new Star Trek series starring Jean-Luc Picard doesn't have an official release date just yet, but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
