Henry Cavill to Reportedly Film New Superman Scenes for Zack Snyder’s Justice League

While filming Justice League, Henry Cavill was sporting a mustache, which is known to have been removed through CGI to maintain the hero's look. The attempt to remove his facial hair has the actor looking a bit weird or somewhat funny for some, becoming a point of ridicule ever since the movie's release. With Zack Snyder's original vision for Justice League officially coming to life, a new report claims that Cavill may have to film some new Superman scenes, minus the mustache.

While Snyder shot Superman's original scenes for the movie, in a video posted by Heroic Hollywood, the outlet pointed out a rumor that they will have to do reshoots of Cavill. Well, specifically, his face "against a green screen at the very least for special effects purposes" since the current reference material of the actor from the theatrical cut is him with facial hair.

The outlet claims a special effects insider revealed how it'll work, where the VFX house will reshoot the actor's face and "map that onto existing footage." The site also explained that if Cavill were to come to the studio, it could be "easier to reshoot his whole body and performance" assuming he's in the same shape. They would be able to easily "paint out the old footage" as well and replace it with the new footage. "A lot also depends on the complexity of the shots Snyder wants to use and how many they have to do," the site notes.

They won't necessarily be doing traditional reshoots with Cavill, rather just green screen footage of his face to use for later. The budget for Snyder's Justice League is said to be beyond $30 million, indicating that some VFX work could lead to higher budgetary costs. Of course, this is just a rumor for now, so remember to take this with a grain of salt.

Zack Snyder's Justice League will be released on HBO Max next year.
