Henry Cavill Talks Geralt in New The Witcher Featurette

Though gamers may have been familiar with Geralt of Rivia for a while, a whole new audience is going to know him via Netflix's The Witcher which comes out later this month. We have a new featurette talking more about Geralt, and Henry Cavill tries to explain the take on his character.

Watch this:

Cavill had this to say about Geralt, "Geralt aggravates Destiny. He doesn't believe in it, but it turns out there may be a little more to it. Geralt's greatest strength is his capacity to still love despite having been treated incredibly harshly. Despite what he says, he still believes in the goodness of people; couple that with incredible sword skills, speed, agility, endurance, then you have an interesting character.

I think it's also interesting how Witcher's are kind of treated like Mutants in the MCU, in a sense that people fear them. It also adds a kind of layer that they are thought not to have emotions, and Geralt and the other Witcher also like to perpetuate that belief.

Netflix is at an incredibly good place to release The Witcher now. With Game of Thrones just ending earlier this year, there is now a void to fill when it comes to adult fantasy television. Add to that a huge fanbase from the game, and we have a surefire hit. The great thing is, the books are completed as well, so we don't have to worry about the showrunners running out of material to adapt.

Catch The Witcher when it comes out on Netflix Dec. 20.
