Hela Has Gorr The God Butcher’s Powers In Thor: Ragnarok

There are many things to look forward to in November's Thor: Ragnarok. Some of these things include: an epic battle between Thor and The Hulk, Surtur, a cameo from Doctor Strange and an excellent performance from Cate Blanchett, portraying classic Marvel villain Hela. While the character looks just like her comic book counterpart, her powers in the movie are based on a more recent villain: Gorr the God Butcher.

During a visit to the movie's set, executive producer Brad Winderbaum told Comic Book that Hela would have Gorr's power to manifest an infinite amount of weapons. We got a taste of this in some of the film's trailers, and it should make for a number of visually interesting battles. Hela has always been a major threat to the God of Thunder, but these powers could make her an unstoppable force.

"A lot of the design of Hela is a combination of the early Jack Kirby stuff but also...especially his power set, the villain Gorr, who has a very specific power set of being able to manifest an infinite number of weapons."

For those unaware, Gorr was created by current Thor writer Jason Aaron and artists Esad Ribic. While the character only appeared in 11 issues, he made a big statement by killing almost every God in the Marvel universe, blaming them for every miserable moment he ever experienced. Thor had to team up with his younger and older self to defeat the mad villain, but the villain's words left a huge impact, which eventually lead to the Odinson being unworthy to hold Mjolnir.

While Hela might not have the same grudge Gorr did, she should still be an entertaining villain to watch. Add Karl Urban's Skurge, Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster and we are in for one action-packed ride.

Thor: Ragnarok is slated for a November 5 release. Here is hoping that it makes up for the previous Thor films, which weren't horrible, but were somewhat lackluster.
