HBO's Watchmen: Tim Blake Nelson Reveals His Character

Character actor Tim Blake Nelson may be appearing in the Coen Brothers' Ballad of Buster Scruggs, but he's also set to appear in next year's Watchmen series on HBO. Nelson talks about his character and hypes up the show for fans of the original comic.

Talking to Empire, Nelson reveals:

"My character's name is Looking Glass, and it's a really interesting, intriguing character… I don't really completely understand him, and that's intentional. Damon Lindelof metes out facts about your character as you go along […] so I'm learning as I go along who this guy is, and trying to... It's almost like fresco painting. The clay is always wet."

So far, Looking Glass hasn't appeared in any of the Watchmen comics and is an original character created for the show. We don't really know much about him, but a casting call has said that the character is a ‘behavioral scientist' and a ‘top interrogator'.

For now, the reveals are coming out slowly for Watchmen. Just recently we got confirmation that Jeremy Irons will be playing an older Ozymandias. In case you didn't know, this adaptation is said to be an expansion of the story from the comics, taking a look at how society evolved after Ozymandias' genocide. Everything from the canon still existed, including the giant alien squid and the Minute Men.

I'm just curious about what happened to other characters like Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, and Dr. Manhattan—granted they make an appearance in the show.

No specific release date has been set for Watchmen, but it's expected to debut on HBO sometime next year.
