In case you haven't heard yet, the folks over at Warner Bros. want to take another crack at Green Lantern via the upcoming HBO Max series which is set to feature key members of the Green Lantern Corps. But instead of the spotlight being put on obvious choices like Hal Jordan or John Stewart, the DC series will focus on lesser-known Lanterns, including the first gay Green Lantern Alan Scott.

A couple of weeks back, it was announced that HBO Max has found the actor who will lead the series as Guy Gardner in Finn Wittrock. Now, it is being reported by Variety that Alan Scott aka Earth's first Green Lantern is next in line to join the series with actor Jeremy Irvine being eyed for the role. Irvine is best known for his involvement in the 2011 war film War Horse directed by Stephen Spielberg.

To give you a little idea about the character, Alan Scott is a train engineer who got his powers from a mystical green lantern crafted from a mysterious meteorite. Scott would later join the Justice Society of America and would sometimes team up with members of the Green Lantern Corps, including the fan-favorite Hal Jordan.

As it stands, other details about Irvine's casting are still being kept under wraps. Now, it's worth mentioning that the upcoming series was pretty much responsible for Zack Snyder not being able to use John Stewart in the Snyder Cut of Justice League despite the fact that he actually shot a scene with actor Wayne T. Carr. Whether or not Stewart or even Jordan will get featured in the show still remains to be seen but I'm guessing HBO Max could end up sidelining the characters in favor of the other Lanterns.

No official release date has been announced yet for HBO Max's Green Lantern series.
