As D23 was approaching, several sources, most notably reporter Emmet Kennedy claimed that the British actor will be one of the surprises pulled by Marvel Studios during its MCU presentation. Well, much to the chagrin of fans, Cavill, who is heavily rumored to be making his debut in Loki Season 2 as the villain Hyperion didn't show up at the Disney spectacle.

As it stands, Cavill's DCEU and MCU involvement remain uncertain but HBO Max's latest update seems to drop promising clues about Cavill's future as Kal_El. It turns out that the streaming service updated its profile picture library and added several DCEU characters, including Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck's Batman, and the Last Son of Krypton himself.

Intriguingly, Ray Fisher's Cyborg was also added to the profile picture options. Check it out below:

Of course, this does not confirm anything but it's I think we've proven over the last couple of years that Warner Bros. has blacklisted Cavill in the DCEU. Recent reports said Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is committed to bringing some credibility back to the franchise and while we've yet to see that happen, he reportedly wants Cavill back in the fold.

Meanwhile, despite WB Discovery's latest delays, DC's Black Adam is still on track to release in cinemas on October 21, 2023.
