It's no secret to a lot of people that John Boyega had a rocky experience working on Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy so it no longer comes as a surprise how he's seemingly hesitant about joining another massive media franchise. Last month, the Finn actor addressed the rumors linking him to a potential involvement in the MCU, saying that he's targetting other roles at the moment and isn't interested in jumping ship to another franchise.

However, it looks like Boyega could be lying about his latest statement and rumor has it that he'll in fact be suiting up for a superhero role very soon. According to reporter Emmet Kennedy, Marvel Studios signed a number of A-list actors that will join the billion-dollar franchise's fifth phase. Among the names mentioned was John Boyega and the official announcement will take place at this year's D23 Expo which happens in a couple of days.

The idea that Boyega wants to distance himself from the Marvel franchise doesn't seem too farfetched to believe. I mean, given his working experience with Disney who owns the property, there's a good chance that he might have developed trust issues against the company. However, there's a good chance that he's just trying to pull an Andrew Garfield because let's face it, every MCU actor is sworn to secrecy.

The real question is, which character could Boyega end up playing? Some fans are speculating that he'll end up being cast as Johnny Storm aka Human Torch which doesn't sound like a bad idea. A potential role in the X-Men reboot also seems possible but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy is available for streaming on Disney+.
