After Hayden Christensen's years-long friendship with Star Wars co-star Ewan McGregor, he finally gets to present him at the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony with a walk down memory lane of how they forged that friendship in the first place.
Hayden Christensen Honors Ewan McGregor As 'Best Jedi Master'
Watching Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi team up and reunite a couple of times across the galaxy far, far away makes more sense now, given Christensen always had a good feeling from the first time they worked together for the Lucasfilm franchise.
"He was just beyond kind to me, and it was immediately apparent to me that I was meeting someone truly special," Christensen recalled.
The first time he met McGregor, the Star Wars co-star insisted on the "biggest hug" on the set of Attack of the Clones, "Not just as an actor, but as a person, and that I was meeting a friend."
Christensen then added humorously, "A friend who would later go on to chop off both my legs and leave me for dead on the side of a volcano, but I guess I kind of had that coming."
The Ahsoka star shared that Ewan McGregor not only "embodied" Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's the kind of "magic that does not involve any trickery", but rather the kind that "really makes you believe in something bigger."
"Because [McGregor] wasn't just playing Obi-Wan, he was Obi-Wan," Christensen praised, "I mean, he is Obi-Wan. And I really hope we get more Obi-Wan because this man is just Star Wars gold."
Upon wrapping up his speech, the Obi-Wan Kenobi star thanks McGregor for their journey together, "So, my friend Ewan, I want to thank you for being the best Jedi Master that anyone could have ever hoped for."
"It's been an honor and a thrill to get to work with you and swing a lightsaber with you, and more than all of it, call you my friend," Christensen said, "I love you, brother."
