Hawkeye: Hailee Steinfeld on Kate's Reaction to Eleanor Bishop Reveal

Hawkeye Episode 5 was truly an awesome rollercoaster ride with huge revelations that had fans gasping in satisfaction or shock. We were already looking forward to Kingpin showing up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series but nobody expected the Eleanor Bishop bombshell in Ronin. So how does Kate Bishop feel now that she knows her own mother had ordered Clint Barton's death? Hailee Steinfeld spoke about her character's reaction to the revelation.

In Hawkeye Episode 5, Kate Bishop somehow bonded with Yelena Belova although the latter admitted that she had been sent to kill Clint Barton. Later, Yelena investigates her own mission and discovers who had reached out to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine with the target. She then told Kate that it was Eleanor Bishop who hired Yelena through Val. In addition to that, Eleanor is connected to Maya Lopez's uncle Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin.

It's truly a shocking discovery and Hailee Steinfeld tells TVLine that "we're about to find out" what Kate truly thinks about her mother right now.

“She has this realization,” Steinfeld said. “She’s just completely broken and confused and absolutely lost. She doesn’t know who to trust or who to look to.”

Steinfeld also added that her character “has no choice now but to really go to work” now that she knows Kingpin is involved. She then pointed out that Kate is quick to understand how serious this is and will spring to action right away.

“The stakes are higher than ever, and the one person that she’s been tirelessly trying to protect is now someone that she might need to be protected against. She comes to her senses as quickly as she possibly can after learning this information and puts her head down and does what she has to do,” Steinfeld said.

It's great to know that Kate isn't one to wallow in depression or disappointment considering that the situation needs to be dealt with as soon as possible. With that in mind, we can't wait to see her in action next week.

The final episode of Hawkeye will premiere on Disney+ on December 23, 2021.
