There's a lot of things to be excited about in the latest episode of Hawkeye like the reveal of Maya Lopez's "uncle" or the confirmation that someone close to Kate Bishop wants Clint Barton dead. However, fans are all hyped up over the awesome interaction between Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova. Not surprisingly, Hailee Steinfeld loved those scenes and admitted she wants to work with Florence Pugh again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In Hawkeye Episode 5, Yelena visited Kate's apartment where they had an interesting conversation over some mac and cheese. The witty banter teased great chemistry between the two characters and it's no surprise that Steinfeld admitted to TVLine that she loved working on the scene with Pugh.
“It really so seamless getting through it with Florence. The banter is incredible,” the Hawkeye star said. “We’ve got a girls’ night over mac and cheese and hot sauce so how could that not be so much fun? But [also] realizing that this scene does, in fact, carry a lot of weight.”
Steinfeld continued by explaining the significance of the scene. “These two characters who find this quick connection and almost friendship in each other but know that that cannot and will not get in the way of what they’re both trying to achieve. Kate is at a loss with what Yelena is after and is trying to understand what she’s there to do and why she’s so sure about what kind of person Clint is,” she said.
So what are the chances we'll be seeing more of Kate and Yelena together in the future? Steinfeld was quick to point out that she isn't sure what the MCU holds for the characters but she is “one of those people that would love to see more of the two of them.”
We're certainly hoping that the next time we see Kate and Yelena, they will be fighting side by side. Perhaps that's something to look forward to in the season finale of Hawkeye.
