The year started off with a major bang as Marvel Studios finally ushered in its "Disney+ era" through WandaVision. Now, three live-action spinoff shows later and Hawkeye is ending the year on a huge note and as expected, the finale episode was successful in delivering the goods to fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The explosive sixth episode of the Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld series marked the official MCU debut of the one and only Kingpin but it looked as if his time in the franchise was unceremoniously cut short. Vincent D'Onofrio's fan-favorite villain from the Daredevil show surely made his presence felt in the finale, being a huge thorn on the side of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop.

However, Wilson Fisk may have found his biggest adversary yet in the form of Maya Lopez aka Echo whom he shares a close bond similar to that of Thanos and Gamora. After Barton revealed to Lopez on last week's episode that Kingpin was instrumental in the death of his father, Lopez wanted to cut all connections she has with Fisk and during the menacing mob boss' attempt to escape the authorities after a grueling fight with Bishop, Fisk had an altercation with Maya which ended with a gunshot as the cameras panned, leaving viewers with a major cliffhanger.

Now, the question on everyone's mind is, did Maya really pull the trigger and killed her "uncle" Fisk? Or was it the other way around? My guess is nothing really happened and we'll still be seeing the two in the MCU especially with Echo getting her own spinoff show in the not-so-distant future.

All episodes of Marvel Studios' Hawkeye are now available for streaming on Disney+.
