Harry Potter’s J.K. Rowling Under Fire for Allegedly Supporting Transphobia

J.K. Rowling had done the world a solid when she gave us Harry Potter, but as of late she has been the butt of bashing for the way she navigates social media. Just in, fans are apparently "canceling" her for showing her support for Maya Forstater.

According to Independent, Forstater was fired from her job at the Centre for Global Development over "a series of tweets questioning government plans to allow people to self-identify as another gender." Her firing had apparently started a hashtag #IStandWithMaya, to which Rowling had shown her support.

This was her tweet:

While some people have come out to thank Rowling for her support, the Trans community apparently won't have it and is now branding her a TERF or Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist. Rowling has always tried to be progressive when it comes to social media, but now people are calling her out for apparently being ‘part of the problem' when it comes to Transphobia.

Admittedly the issue is very complicated, and I'm not qualified enough to make an informed statement, but it looks like Rowling is standing her ground, despite the disappointment coming from so many of her fans (especially from the Trans community).

We don't know how all of this will go down, but some people say they kind of saw it coming, based on Rowling's social media etiquette. What are the odds people are going to start a boycott movement for Fantastic Beasts 3?

Fantastic Beasts 3 is set to release on November 12, 2021.
