Harry Potter Reboot Is Rumored To Be In Development At Warner Bros.


Back in November this year, Potterheads couldn’t contain their excitement at the potential of a Harry Potter spinoff being reportedly in development at Warner Bros. Warner Bros. was initially eyeing on adapting The Cursed Child, instead of The Marauders, as anticipated by Harry Potter fans. However, recent reports are circulating that Warner Bros. is actually developing a Harry Potter reboot. Yes, the seven films they have already produced.

According to Valliant Renegade and established info-leaker WDW Pro, Warner Bros. Discovery is considering switching their focus from The Cursed Child to a full-on Harry Potter reboot in the next 3-5 years, which includes recasting. Check out the tweet below:

To recap, HBO Max Head of Originals Sarah Aubrey confirmed back in November that they were “in the business of creating new content” for the Wizarding World, eyeing The Cursed Child for starters. However, with the initial thought that the original author, J.K. Rowling, would also be involved, Warner Bros. Discovery’s new chief David Zaslav confirmed that they would still push through the project with or without the author’s presence. The most recent set of news we have received was with Warner Bros. TV Executive Channing Dungey who updated that they are “engaged” in creation of the projects, still.

While it is understandable that building the childhood-known franchise from the ground up may sound like a good idea at first, it would be a really bad move considering that fans have grown with the original cast who became famous thanks to the original Harry Potter franchise. In fact, even the Potterheads are already not liking the idea of recasting their long favorite characters just for a remade version:
