Harrison Ford on Chadwick Boseman, ‘He is as Much a Hero as Any He Played’

Before Chadwick Boseman was cast as King T'Challa, Marvel was said to have been impressed by his take on Jackie Robinson on 42. With tributes going out to Boseman online, his old co-star Harrison Ford had some nice things to say about the recently passed icon.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Ford said:

"Chadwick Boseman was as compelling, powerful and truthful as the characters he chose to play… His intelligence, personal dignity and deep commitment inspired his colleagues and elevated the stories he told. He is as much a hero as any he played. He is loved and will be deeply missed."

I guess it's worth remembering that before he was playing the fictional superhero that was Black Panther, Boseman had played the part of real-life hero Jackie Robinson in 42. Robinson was the first African-American to play Major League Baseball and was the first person to break the MLB's color line when he played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Boseman was such an integral part in helping continue Robinson's legacy, and the LA Dodgers had held a moment of silence for Boseman and the Jackie Robinson Foundation had also put up a tribute to the late actor:

Boseman's passing was definitely a shock, and that was because he had managed to keep his colon cancer diagnosis a secret for 4 years; even Black Panther director Ryan Coogler didn't know about it. If anything, Boseman has left behind a legacy and will be remembered as a black icon for years to come.
