Magical girl anime are often thought of as sweet and kid-friendly shows, but this upcoming one is definitely not for younger audiences. Following its announcement earlier this year, the BDSM magical girl anime Gushing Over Magical Girls got its first teaser trailer.
This new trailer may not be that long, but it does give anime fans their first look at the NSFW nature of this magical girl series, especially the magical form of its protagonist.
Along with the new trailer, the show’s main voice cast members have also been revealed, with the lead role starring a rookie VA.
Gushing Over Magical Girls Gets First Look in New Trailer
Initially announced back in March, the Gushing Over Magical Girls anime took many by surprise, especially considering its rather questionable ecchi elements.
After all, magical girls and ecchi is a combo that’s not made for a wide audience.
Now, the first teaser for the anime has been released, and it gives us our first look at the villainous protagonist Utena Hiiragi, along with the magical girl trio that she must face (and fawn over in a twisted way).

The series follows Utena Hiiragi, a middle schooler who loves magical girls. But in the series’ events, she is misled into becoming a magical girl villain by Venalita, a member of the evil organization Enormeeta.
While her being a villain is in sharp contrast to her love for magical girls, she soon discovers that her feelings for magical girls are twisted and sadistic in nature.

Gushing Over Magical Girls Reveals Main Voice Cast
The anime is being made by Asahi Production, the studio behind shows such as A Galaxy Next Door and Himegoto. For the lead role of Utena, newcomer Fuuka Izumi was chosen.
Alongside Izumi is Kaori Maeda as Haruka Hanabishi aka Magia Magenta, the leader of the magical girl trio Tres Magia.
Maeda is known for her roles such as Shizuku Osaka in Love Live! and Selka Zuberg in Sword Art Online: Alicization.
Finally, Misato Fukuen is the voice of Venalita. Fukuen is best known for voicing Himiko Toga in My Hero Academia, Konjiki no Yami in To Love Ru, and Yin in Darker than Black.
Gushing Over Magical Girls will be released sometime in 2024. Though there’s currently no word yet on a specific release date as well as a streaming platform outside of Japan.
