Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Reportedly Screen Tested Actors for Anticipated Character

These days, it almost feels like we're drowning from all the content Marvel Studios has been dishing out but despite the studios' fresh new offerings, most fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are still excited to see established series like Guardians of the Galaxy's third sequel. As it stands, production has begun for the James Gunn-directed project with filming expected to begin something in the Fall.



Gunn has been suspiciously secretive about the project which is currently eyeing a May 2023 release date. Of course, the director has been busy with his DC commitments so that's probably the reason he's been silent about his upcoming MCU film. While we still know very little about the project, a brand new rumor suggests that Volume 3 could finally mark the grand MCU debut of a certain character the fans have been anticipating for quite some time now.

Grace Randolph reports that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 just did a series of screen tests featuring four different actors whose names weren't disclosed. Interestingly, the often reliable Hollywood scooper says that the shortlisted actors were painted in gold during their respective auditions. Of course, the name Adam Warlock instantly comes to mind when thinking of a Marvel character with golden skin.

Gunn has previously denied that he's including Adam in the film after rumors circulated that he's casting an actor for the role, with some sources even claiming that he's eyeing Zac Efron. However, considering Vol. 2 straight-up teased the arrival of the powerful Marvel hero and the fact that Gunn claims GOTG 3 will be his final MCU film, all signs point to the film finally giving fans what they've wanted to see for so long and honestly, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't happen now.


Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is slated for release in May 2023. Meanwhile, James Gunn's next DC project Peacemaker will hit HBO Max in 2022.
