Currently the highest grossing film of Phase Five, to date, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 brings the groove of the MCU back to the big screens as the band of misfits get together one last time.

They face a villain from Rocket's past as everyone's favorite talking raccoon gets his life on the line when the High Evolutionary goes to a pursuit to finding him.

While the Guardians defeated him in the end and destroyed his ship with him inside, there is still a chance that the High Evolutionary may still be alive.

A popular fan theory in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is that the High Evolutionary may have survived the explosion and could still be alive somewhere in the Galaxy.

When the Guardians are taking the whole zoo from the ship of Arête Laboratories, Drax is seen carrying a human and many have speculated that the person is the High Evolutionary.

This claim has been supported by VFX artist Miguel Angel Acevedo Montserrat with Strip Marvel that Drax is, indeed, carrying the High Evolutionary.

See, over the years, Drax has found his redemption with the Guardians and this was apparent when he saved Adam Warlock who was confused about why he was saved.

Drax tells Adam that everyone deserves a second chance, and this, in turn, brought some morality in Adam that he saved Peter when left out in the cold.

On Twitter, when a fan asked whether the High Evolutionary is still alive, James Gunn seemingly confirms that it is the villain that Drax carried in the scene. See the tweet below.

The High Evolutionary is definitely one of the easiest villains to hate in the MCU because of his vile and sinister character and props to Chukwudi Iwuji for the great delivery of the role.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in theaters worldwide.
