Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Casts Hawkeye Actor as the Voice of Lylla

Next week, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 finally arrives in theaters. A lot of MCU fans have been looking forward to seeing the film which is set to be the final movie featuring the current iteration of the team as well as James Gunn's last involvement in the franchise as he is now heading DC Studios.

The film is expected to explore Rocket Raccoon's backstory and feature characters from his past such as Lylla the Otter, who is also a prominent figure in the Rocket's life in the comics. However, the voice actress behind the role was never announced.

Now, we finally know the name who lent the voice to the character as Collider revealed that Linda Cardellini, who played Laura Barton in previous MCU projects, is voicing Lylla in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This will mark her second role in the franchise.

In addition, they also reported that comedian Asim Chaudhry is voicing Teefs the Walrus in the film while The Suicide Squad's Mikaela Hoover is voicing Floor the Rabbit. Their casting was revealed as they released a clip from the film featuring Rocket's friends from his childhood.

There have been rumors in the past that Lady Gaga, who worked with Rocket's voice actor Bradley Cooper in A Star is Born, was cast to voice Lylla, but it was never confirmed. There were also speculations that Daniela Melchior was cast before it was reported that she is actually taking playing another role.

Cardellini's casting as Lylla is certainly a surprise for MCU fans since she was already involved in the franchise as Clint Barton's wife Laura in the Avengers films and the Hawkeye TV series. However, this won't create any conflict since she is only doing voicework as a creature from another planet in the new film.

This won't be the first time that an actor in the MCU was cast in two different roles. Gemma Chan is the most notable example as she first initially appeared as Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel before she was cast to play Sersi later on in Eternals where she had a lead role.

It is exciting to see how Lylla will play into the story of the film and Rocket's journey. Having Cardellini as the voice of the character is a great casting choice since she is a talented actress and can provide a heartwarming take on the role.
