Grey's Anatomy Season 18 has been making headlines even before it premiered last month. And the hit ABC medical drama gained even more traction after Kate Walsh's character, Addison Montgomery, was featured in the official trailer for Grey's Anatomy Season 18 Episode 3.

But before we give you all the details from Thursday night's episode, here is some exciting information about Grey's Anatomy Season 18 from lead star Ellen Pompeo herself.

Watch Out For Easter Eggs In Grey's Anatomy Season 18

Grey's Anatomy Season 18 lead star Ellen Pompeo just confirmed that there would be several Easter Eggs throughout the entire season of the hit ABC drama.

During her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Pompeo confirmed fan theories that the shirt she wore in the premiere episode is the same shirt she wore in Season 1.

"It was my idea to pay homage to many things and different seasons and give the audience things to watch out for and to plant Easter Eggs," Pompeo said.

The lead star didn't say anything more, but based on her statement, there will be plenty of other Easter Eggs from Grey's Anatomy Seasons 1 to 17 in the current season of the medical drama.

Grey's AnatomySeason 18 Continues To Pay Tribute To Old Cast Members

Grey's Anatomy has also been paying tribute to the original cast members of the hit TV show.

Last season, some fan favorites already graced Grey's Anatomy Season 17.

Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) is perhaps one of the most popular characters in the series.

He returned to Grey's Anatomy Season 17 in several dream sequences while Meredith Grey (Pompeo) battled COVID-19.

Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) and Lexie (Chyler Leigh) also visited Meredith in her dreams. And the happy couple revealed that they are still together in the afterlife.

Another fan favorite, George O'Malley (T.R. Knight), also visited Meredith in her dreams while confined at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

In Grey's Anatomy Season 18, more characters from the previous seasons are expected to return.

For instance, fans already saw a glimpse of Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) chatting with Meredith in the official trailer for Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

And on Thursday's episode, titled Hotter than Hell, Walsh's Addison Montgomery will visit Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Meredith, Addison Won't Always Get Along In Grey's Anatomy Season 18

Even though Meredith and Addison buried the hatchet years ago, it seems that they won't always get along in Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

While speaking with TV Insider, showrunner Krista Vernoff said that there would be mutual respect between the two doctors. However, there could also be some competition between Meredith and Addison.

"Though there's real respect between them, there are also new dynamics you've never seen before on the show," Vernoff said.

During the same interview, Walsh also shared some insight about Meredith and Addison's relationship.

"The fact is, she hasn't been back for pretty poignant events in Grey's history, like Derek's funeral, Meredith's children and [former sister-in-law] Amelia [Shepherd's] child. You can't help but feel like the prodigal daughter is returning," she said.

So, it's possible that Meredith and even Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) will question Addison about her absence during such important milestones in their lives.

Meredith, Addison's Personal, Professional Lives Will Merge In Grey's Anatomy Season 18

Very few details have been released from Grey's Anatomy Season 18 Episode 3. But the trailer for Thursday night's episode shows Addison looking for Meredith while the former is operating on her patient.

This particular moment shows that Addison has so much trust and respect for Meredith professionally. And the returning character is also aware that Meredith is still the best in her field.

Beyond their hectic schedules, we can predict a scene where Meredith and Addison will talk about Derek.

Addison was once married to Derek. And the latter cheated on Addison with Meredith at a time when their marriage was already falling apart.

It's possible that Meredith would tell Addison that Derek visited her in her dreams.

Ellen Pompeo, Kate Walsh Cried The First Time They Reunite

Walsh exited Grey's Anatomy several years ago, and this is her first time returning to the series.

While speaking with E! News, Pompeo revealed that she and Walsh might have shed a tear the first time they saw each other again.

"Kate is the funniest person on set. All of us from the original cast, do share such a special bond. We went through something that only a few people can understand what it was, and to see all of that hard work and all of that craziness that we went through—you know, getting famous so quickly and the show was such a big deal—and to come together again and the show is still on the air, to know that our work has had such an impact, is pretty moving," Pompeo shared.

As of late, it's still unclear how many episodes Addison will be featured in Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

But she may be in more than one episode. After all, Derek was also featured in multiple episodes of the medical drama last season.

Some clues suggest that Addison will also be featured in Grey's Anatomy Season 18 Episode 4.

Since Dr. Webber (James Pickens Jr.) wants Addison to help him train the residents, it's unlikely for the latter to complete the job in just one episode.

Also, Webber and Bailey (Chandra Wilson) have been stressing over the fact that they are losing more and more doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. So, having Addison there to help them out will do wonders for the hospital.

Is There Hope For Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl To Return?

As of late, there's still no update regarding Sandra Oh and Katherine Heigl's possible return to Grey's Anatomy Season 18.

But if this won't happen this season, we hope to at least see Cristina Yang and Izzie Stevens again before Grey's Anatomy bids goodbye for good.

Oh previously said that she has no intentions to return to Grey's Anatomy because she already moved on from this chapter of her life. However, we believe in Shonda Rhimes' power to convince the actress to reprise her role for at least one more time.

On the other hand, Heigl seems more open to the idea of returning to Grey's Anatomy. However, a captivating storyline must be in the works before Izzie could return to the hospital. After all, Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) is no longer working there.

In recent years, there have been rumors that Grey's Anatomy will be ending soon. So, seeing these two essential characters could serve as a beautiful ending to such an impactful TV show.
