Lucius Fox and Nygma have never really seen eye-to-eye—especially ever since Fox managed to crack Nygma's little "Home" riddle back in season 2.
Now the third season of Gotham haven't made this relationship dynamic any better, seeing as how Nygma is responsible for trapping Fox and Bruce Wayne in Arkham. Funnily enough, in an interview with Comicbook.com, Lucius Fox actor Chris Chalk even went so far as to see this dynamic as "arch nemesis" level.
"They don't like each other. I don't think Nygma doesn't like Lucius as much as Lucius doesn't like Nygma, but we will get to investigate how those two continue to hurt the other one. And their hurt is intellectual hurt—well, at least Lucius's is."
This seems like a jab to Nygma, whose descent to becoming The Riddler has started to make him more violent than downright intellectual, something that we all know he prides himself for.
But when asked if he may be taking up arms and doing some fighting on the show, Chalk laughs at the idea and says that this is unlikely due to his character's attitude. This isn't to say that he isn't open and willing about the idea.
Apparently, Chalk does some Jiu Jitsu, and if given the chance, such as having Fox's mind taken over in the show, he isn't opposed to having to beat up someone—or even getting beaten up.
The interview also touched on thoughts about the return of Jerome. Even with the villain-packed third season of Gotham, the maniacal-laughing Joker prototype has been the talk of fans even before the third season debuted.
Similar to how the show producer Ken Woodruff has been hinting about their excitement to bring Jerome back, Chalk hinted that he is also looking forward to this anticipated return, mostly because he is a very dangerous character in the show.
