Earlier this year, we learned that Apple TV+ and Legendary Television are working on Godzilla and the Titans (working title), a TV series that is set on the MonsterVerse franchise. For the past few months, we have heard some updates regarding the development of the project and now it looks like they have finally recruited their first cast members for the series.

Deadline has reported that Kiersey Clemons (The Flash), Anna Sawai (Pachinko), Joe Tippett (Mare of Easttown), Elisa Lasowski (Versailles), and newcomer Ren Watabe have been cast to join Godzilla and the Titans. They are the first actors to be recruited into the show's ensemble.

Clemons will play May, "an American ex-pat with a roguish exterior that she uses to protect herself as well as others." Sawai will play Cate, "a former schoolteacher and G-Day survivor who travels to Japan to settle family affairs but instead uncovers a family secret." Tippet will play Tim, "an office drone who dreams of secret agent adventure."

Lasowski will play Duvall, "an expert operative with unwavering confidence in herself and her skills." Watabe will play Kentaro, "an intelligent, creative, and curious young man who has yet to find his own path. He will embark on a quest to learn more about his revered yet mysterious father and discover his own talents in the process."

The series' logline reads: "Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the Monsterverse series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch."

WandaVision director Matt Shakman will helm the first two episodes. Chris Black and Matt Fraction co-created the series with both also serving as executive producers. Black will also serve as the showrunner.

Considering that the series has recruited its first cast members, it is a sign that the series is indeed moving forward and it is very likely that they will begin production soon. The actors that they recruited are all talented with the most notable one being Clemons, who is known for playing Iris West in the DCEU films. It is curious to see which actors they will recruit more and if it will include a certain actor from an MCU series.
