Following its initial reveal, Toei Animation finally shared the key visual for the upcoming music anime Girls Band Cry. And along with the visual, two music videos were also shared.
It’s interesting to see that there are already music videos featuring original songs from the anime, especially as there’s no trailer for it yet.
Despite the lack of a proper trailer, Toei did share new details about the anime, including its story and cast.
The voice cast also shared info about their respective characters in a recent interview.
Girls Band Cry Gets New Key Visual
When Girls Band Cry was first announced, the only info known about it is that it will follow a high school-aged girl who forms a rock band.
Now, we finally have a proper look at the protagonist along with the other band members.
Anime fans can see the series’ main cast in the new key visual. These new characters include Nina Iseri (vocalist), Momoka Kawaragi (guitarist), Subaru Awa (drummer), Tomo Ebizuka (keyboardist), and Rupa (bassist).

Instead of casting popular VAs for the show, Toei Animation (the studio behind shows like One Piece and Dragon Ball) seems to have cast four relatively unknown voice actresses. They are named Rina, Yuri, Mirei, Natsu, and Syuri.
As for their characters, the cast shared info about them in a recent interview with Animate Times.
For instance, the protagonist, Nina, is revealed to be introverted. Then there’s Momoka, who is a street musician.
There’s also Rupa, the band’s bassist who is half South Asian and half Japanese. The other two include the performing arts student Subaru and the rich heiress Tomo.

Girls Band Cry Gets Two Music Videos
There’s no trailer for the anime yet, but there are two music videos for the original songs by the show’s band, Togenashi Togeari.
This is interesting, as similar shows like Bocchi the Rock! only got music videos after their premiere.
The first is titled Nameless Name and it is a 3D-animated music video. Meanwhile, the other one is for the song No Rhyme no Reason, which is animated with a stylized 2D look.
Check out both new music videos here:
It’s unclear if the anime’s look will be like these music videos. But given that two CG directors are credited on the show’s official Twitter account, it’s possible that this series will be a 3DCG anime.
Currently, there’s no word yet on when Girls Band Cry will be released.
