Gintama Teases Ultra-Surprising News, New Anniversary Figure Line Poll

The trolls are working very hard behind the scenes to make Gintama fans happy.

Following the latest development in the Gintama live-action film, which confirmed finishing the shooting for Gintoki's scenes, now there may be a new development with the franchise.

According to Anime News Network, there will be some "ultra-surprising" news for the Gintama franchise. This was revealed in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The announcement will come after the live-action film adaptation.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the continuation of the anime. This would be a good "surprising" news, especially since the latest run has just ended. Most fans, myself included, were expecting a little more time on a hiatus to collect more manga material. But then again, a lot of arcs have been skipped to animate the major plot point in the Gintama main arc.

Then again, it could be another troll move. As every Gintama fan ssknows, there's never a sure thing with Gorilla-mangaka Hideaki Sorachi-sensei. Except maybe that his story delivers every twist and turn perfectly.

Fans who are looking for nice figures to celebrate may want to check out MegaHouse's new poll, which asks which figure will be used to commemorate its anniversary.

There are four announced figures coming up. These include grown-up Kagura from the Gekijoban Gintama Kanketsu-hen: Yorozuya yo Eien Nare movie, gender-bent Sougo Okita (complete with her whip) and policewoman Toshiro Hijikata, and Shinpachi on the wooden horse. That last one, for those who aren't familiar, is from the episode where Gintoki tries to hide Shinpachi's ero-magazines using the oddest of ways.

The new line is called "G.E.M. Gintama Commercialization Edition – 7 Year Edition." This new line is actually a commemoration of seven years of rolling out Gintama figures since 2009, when it first released Gintoki, followed by Hijikata, Shinsuke Takasugi, and more characters.

Voting will be open until sometime in November, with the final tally to be revealed in an Akihabara event in late November.

The Gintama live-action film will be out sometime in 2017. It stars Shun Oguri as Gintoki, Masaki Suda as Shinpachi, and Kanna Hashimoto as Kagura. The film is under the direction of Yuichi Fukuda.
