Over the last couple of weeks, we learned that Giancarlo Esposito has been on Marvel Studios' radar for quite some time now and understandably so. Now, as speculation continues to grow with regards to The Mandalorian star's potential involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, new information about his original MCU offer is finally coming to light.

It turns out that Marvel has been eyeing him for a "television role" long before the X-Men rumors and fan castings became a thing. In a series of tweets, ComicBook's Liam Crowley, who attended the Boston Fan Expo 2022 shared details about Esposito's "could have been" Marvel role. The Star Wars actor confirmed that he was in talks for an MCU television project which he believes was Loki.

The Moff Gideon actor would then reveal that Marvel Studios' offer never came to fruition simply because he wanted to have a bigger role in a big screen project. Check out the full thread below:

While Esposito didn't disclose key details about the offer, there's a good chance that he was eyed to play the role of "Classic Loki" in the series, a role that would end up being played by Richard E. Grant. Personally, I think it was a smart decision on his part to turn down the role because now, he seems to be in top contention to become the MCU's Professor X which is obviously a heftier role.

Meanwhile, Giancarlo Esposito will return as Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian Season 3.
