Giancarlo Esposito on Being Overshadowed by Baby Yoda in Star Wars: The Mandalorian

Giancarlo Esposito might be an exceptional actor, however, like every other actor in Star Wars: The Mandalorian, the Breaking Bad star found himself overshadowed by the doe-eyed, wrinkly Baby Yoda.

Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly to talk about his role in the videogame Far Cry 6, Esposito decided to talk about his work in Jon Favreau's hit Star Wars series, opening up about the irresistible charms of The Child.

While Esposito doesn't seem to be one to be overshadowed, he promised to do his part because Baby Yoda has been nothing but the ‘cutest baby ever.'

"Look, you know, being on the set with this baby... We all, as cast members, Werner [Herzog] and myself, Pedro [Pascal], have all said different things about this very, very irresistible Yoda. I knew the first time I saw him he was going to be the star of the show," Esposito told the entertainment news outlet.

"I just reminded myself, ‘Do your part. Play nicely in the sandbox,' ‘cause it's the cutest baby ever," the actor added.

It seems like Esposito's a pretty big fan of Baby Yoda. Sure, his character might be out for The Child's soft green hide, but the actor seems to be enthralled. Esposito knows how much effort it took Favreau and his team to work on a physical rendition of Baby Yoda, and he can't help but acknowledge the amazing work that they've done on The Child.

"I just want to spend all my time with him, so as close as I can get, I will get. And believe me, I'm good at getting close," Esposito said.

We wonder if Esposito's character, Moff Gideon, is going to get close to Baby Yoda again in the second season of The Mandalorian.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is streaming on Disney+.
