As the premiere of the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian approaches, new images were recently released, giving a glimpse of what's to come in the show. Sure enough, we'll eventually see Moff Gideon face-off with Mando himself, but it seems like the latter could end up working for the villainous Gideon.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Giancarlo Esposito teased his character crossing paths with Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin once again and it's not looking good for the titular character. "I'll be going toe-to-toe with Mando. It's an iconic battle. I want to disarm him mentally as well," Esposito said. "Who knows? Maybe there's an opportunity to get him to fight some battles for me."

The actor also suggested that his character may not be so bad after all. "You may think I'm a villain, but I'm trying to harness some energy and some powers for a path that could be best for all," he adds. "You'll get to see him be somewhat diplomatic and more of a manipulator."

We know that Moff Gideon will do anything to get his hands on The Child and based on Esposito's comments, it looks like Mando would do anything in his power to protect the adorable creature, even maybe doing some of Gideon's dirty work himself.

It remains to be seen what this face-off could lead to so we'll have to wait and see until Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 premieres on Disney+ this 30th of October.
